Internet Speed Test Guide
Review reliable speed test methods and understand download, upload and latency results.
A browser page cannot accurately measure bandwidth without transferring known test data to a capable test server. This page does not fake a speed measurement.
- Run an external speed test: Open a trusted independent speed test, preferably from your internet provider or a reputable test service.
- Reduce interference: Use Ethernet where possible, close downloads and VPN connections, and test again.
- Compare results: Repeat at different times. Compare latency (ms), download (Mbps) and upload (Mbps) to your plan.
How to use this tool
Follow the steps above. Browser tests run locally when possible; other tasks provide practical troubleshooting guidance rather than claiming to scan your computer or network.
Important limitations
Results depend on your device, permissions, Windows version and network configuration. Back up important files before system changes and consult your device manufacturer for hardware repairs.
